US Applications Training and Masterclass

UES hosts regular CPD events and training for teachers throughout the year.

Our next Teacher Training Day is on Monday 17th September 2018. The event will be sponsored by and held at the offices of Florida State University, 99 Great Russell Street, WC1B 3LH, and will comprise the following sessions:

  • A Guide to the US Application Process for Schools (Advisor level: beginner to intermediate) 10am - 3pm
  • US College Applications Masterclass (Advisor level: intermediate to advanced) 3.30pm - 6.30pm
  • Complimentary drinks reception for all attendees 6.30pm onwards

A Guide to the US Application Process for Schools

Jason Smith, founder of UES, will take you through our comprehensive guide to US Applications. The day is designed to help you plan the provision in your school and understand all of the aspects of US Applications in depth, including:

  • Promoting US applications within the school
  • Guiding students on college choice
  • Financial aid and scholarships
  • The Common Application and other university portals
  • Standardised testing
  • Essays and interviews
  • Letters of recommendation
  • School reports and transcripts
  • Early Applications, Waitlisting, and Decisions

Teachers will be given a resource pack that includes our advisor guide and sample transcripts.

US Applications Masterclass with David Hawkins of Hawkins Global Education

David Hawkins is one of the best known US applications advisors in Europe. He spent four years as Head of US Applications and Head of Careers at Taunton School and then two years as Head of College and Careers Counselling at the International School of Brussels, before setting up Hawkins Global Education. This masterclass is aimed at advisors who have some experience of managing US applications at their school. This session includes:

  • Raising the profile of US applications provision to students, parents, and staff
  • Building the case for US applications provision within the school
  • Effective data management and resource-building
  • Motivating, guiding, and managing students
  • Managing teachers and their obligations
  • Improving letters of recommendation
  • Delivering successful HE events
  • Complex case studies

Cost per delegate (including evening drinks reception): £99 + VAT (20% discount for subsequent places)
Suitable advisor level: intermediate to advanced

For both events, the combined cost is just £249 + VAT (15% discount). If your school wishes to send more than one delegate, there is a 20% discount on subsequent places.
